Tell us briefly about yourself, what your program is at ADC, and where are you located now?
My full name is Christopher Diotte, but most people call me Chris. I’m 32 years old, I’m from Fredericton, New Brunswick, and I am now currently living in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. This is my first year at ADC and my second year in the Bachelor of Theology program (due to transferred credits).
What is your training and previous work experience?
Over the past seven years, I have worked at a recording studio and music store. My experience in the music industry has greatly benefited me in one of my greatest passions: worshiping God with the arts. I have been volunteering at my local church in the creative arts department, Alpha program, etc, for several years now.
Tell us about your call to ministry.
I felt the urge to attend ADC only a few months ago! The idea had been in my mind for a long time, but it truly seemed impossible. I didn’t think God could use me in “that way.” It was after a very dark period in my life that I began to hear a voice. God was (and is) changing my heart in ways I could never have imagined, but I still had doubts about Bible college. I sought the advice of close friends, pastors, and most of all, I prayed. At some point, I knew I had to make a move in order to see if it was really God’s will. My friends were invaluable in this exercise of faith. They asked the hard questions and encouraged me to keep seeking God for answers. I filled out the application, and that felt “right.” I was accepted, and that was exciting! I came to Wolfville, and I don’t regret it! That’s when I "knew:" I am in the right place. Sometimes you have to take risks, but there’s really no such thing as a “risk” when you look at life through the lens of God’s faithfulness.
A number of current and prospective ADC students will be reading this. What advice would you give them?
“Learn to lean. Leading is leaning.” - Pastor Danny Smith
Lastly, is there anything you would like to share that the ADC community could pray for?
I still don’t have all the answers, so I continue to pray for guidance, focus, and community support. God has already been answering my prayers in the community department. I am so thankful for my family here at ADC.
