Notes

1) Normally, students begin their program in the fall.

A required two-day orientation for new D.Min. students takes place each year immediately prior to or following fall elective courses.

2) All students are required to complete:

a. Program Orientation
b. Two courses in Theology
c. Two courses in Biblical Studies
d. Ministry Mentoring and Reflection
e. Research Methodology
f. The Comprehensive Evaluation
g. A thesis
h. Four elective courses

3) You may apply to take a Directed Study following the completion of two D.Min. courses if you have achieved at least a “B” in those courses. Directed Studies may be carried out under the supervision of a residential faculty member at Acadia or another scholar who has peer-recognized expertise in a field of study not represented within the Acadia faculty. Directed Studies count as an elective course and you may take up to two during your program.

4) Students normally start writing their thesis shortly after the Research Methodology course and complete it in 18 months with a view toward participating in the May graduation ceremonies. Students who need extra time may choose to graduate the following October.

Practical ministry electives (DMIN 84 _ _) are offered mainly in the fall but sometimes in the winter.

Students have four electives in their program.

Biblical Studies (DMIN 82 _ _) and Theology (DMIN 83 _ _) core courses are offered in the spring.

Students choose two Biblical Studies and two Theology courses during their program.

Normally, two courses are taken in both year one and two of the program, though it is possible (for instance, if a student was on sabbatical or study leave) to take all four courses in the same spring.
