A university doctorate: As a university divinity college affiliated with one of Canada’s most acclaimed universities, you can earn a degree your peers and your family will respect.

A retreat from ministry busyness: The Annapolis Valley is one of God’s great gifts to humanity! The stunning natural beauty of the Valley (especially during course time in the Fall and Spring) and its slower pace of life provides a wonderful opportunity for you to be renewed physically and spiritually.

Generous scholarships: We understand the pressures on family finances in ministry homes. We do all that we can to keep your tuition low and to provide scholarship support to help you achieve your doctoral degree.

An international doctorate: Courses are offered at both our Wolfville, Nova Scotia and Amsterdam, Netherlands teaching sites. You can take courses at whichever site you prefer, enjoying the classroom mix of North American and European ministry leaders.

Excellent student service: We pride ourselves on quickly returning your phone calls and e-mails. We want to work with you to quickly remove any barrier or hindrance to enjoyment and successful completion of your program.

Close to a major international airport: Halifax has frequent connections with London, Boston, New York, Chicago, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Philadelphia, and a host of other major centers. Wolfville, just an hour from Halifax Stanfield Airport, is an easy location to access.

Diverse student body and faculty: Students from more than 20 denominational families, 30 different ministry vocations (pastors, denominational staff, educators, parachurch leaders, chaplains, etc.), and from all Canadian provinces as well as the US and overseas in several countries choose Acadia and feel very much at home. At Acadia you will build friendships with instructors and fellow students from a variety of denominational backgrounds.

Flexibility: Unlike most other D.Min. programs, we offer you the opportunity to take Directed Studies. This means you can reduce your time spent in class and focus your studies in an area of particular interest to you. Your supervisor could be from within the Acadia faculty or another scholar/practitioner located anywhere in the world. In fact, you can even suggest the person you want to study with and we’ll do our best to set it up for you! In addition, you can also take pre-approved courses at other universities or seminaries and transfer credit into your program.

Significant library (1 million+ volumes): Vaughan Library at Acadia can support whatever research you want to undertake, and if there is something you need that is not in our collection we can help you acquire it through partnerships with other major libraries across Canada and beyond. Through our many electronic library databases, journals, and books, you can access hundred of thousands of resources from wherever you live.

Excellent Instructors and Courses:  At Acadia you can study with the ones who write the books! We invite top scholars and practitioners from across Britain, Continental Europe, Canada, the United States, and elsewhere to come and teach in their area of specialization.  Whether it’s Biblical Studies, Theology or ministry studies, you’ll hear the top voices at Acadia.  Check out our list of Upcoming Courses!

Concern for academic rigour as well as practical, applied research: We will work hard to challenge you academically in your D.Min. program, but our concern for intellectual rigour is matched by our eagerness to ensure that what you learn is intensely practical and useful in your life and ministry.
